A little update
Good morning and happy Monday!
Things have been pretty quiet around here for a while because a LOT has been going on. Specifically: a career change, a new house in a new state, and a walking/somewhat-talking-toddler keeping us on our toes through it all. That being said, I thought I’d kick the week off with a nice big update on Duncan Park Papers.
Without boring you with too many details: after six years in the army, my husband is starting this morning at a new job that he’s very excited about– which happens to be what brought us to our new home in Edmond, Oklahoma. We are settling down, and could not be happier about it. While we are very grateful for the experiences and the friendships we made during James’ time in the military, we are so happy to be starting this new chapter in our lives.
Work-wise, I am so excited for the stability that this move will bring us. Oklahoma will be our fourth state in four years, so settling into any kind of a regular work schedule has been challenging to say the least!
The Duncan Park Papers wedding invitation collection is nearing completion (finally!) so stay tuned for details and sneak peeks in the coming months. While it has definitely taken me much longer than expected to put together, I am so happy with how it is turning out.
Aside from the invitation line, I continue to work on building my stationery collection with Minted (check out my latest work in the shop), and am taking on a limited number of custom design projects.
Before signing off on this update, I’d just like to thank all of my clients and friends and family for keeping up with this little business of mine during the quiet times and the busy times- I really appreciated your support!
Freshly Minted : Storybook Save the Date
Today I’m sharing my first ever Save the Date design for Minted. For one reason or another I never managed to enter any of the Save the Date challenges in the 5+ years I’ve been submitting designs. I know, I’ve been missing out! Save the Dates are incredibly popular, and are a great way to show off (and justify) all of those beautiful engagement session photos.
Storybook is a full bleed photo card with playful type, banners, and swashes to showcase your wedding date. The backer and liner feature a neutral kraft background with coordinating patterns.
I have three more non-photo Save the Dates launching in the near future, I’ll be back to share them just as soon as they’re live!
Storybook and the rest of my wedding stationery for Minted can be found in the Duncan Park Papers shop.
Custom Personal Stationery
I absolutely love how this custom personal stationery project came out. Amy, my client, (and the sister of my sister’s boyfriend) is a newlywed, and wanted stationery with her new last name. I put together a few options and she settled on this sweet lacy pattern in yellow, with her name in a clean and elegant script.
Patterned backers are a lovely add-on for any notecard. For Amy’s cards we carried over more of the lacy yellow print from the front.
Custom stationery pricing is available by request via email, and I will be carrying a small selection in my online shop once it is up and running later this spring.
Holiday Cards
I know I’m a little behind in posting these, but they turned out so well I couldn’t not share them. Here are some of the custom holiday cards I designed this year, including our own Christmas card.
First up was this sparkly number with deep charcoal background and a faux glitter effect:
This next design was for my brother-in-law and his family. They moved earlier this year, so we included their new address on the envelope flap with an arrow to highlight it. (btw, is our nephew the cutest or what?)
This design features a wreath of pinecones and winter florals in a gray and red palette. I carried the wreath over to the envelope flap as well, I love printed envelopes!
Last but not least, our family card, which I used to test out my printer’s gold foil. I love how the gold foil looks over a full-bleed photo card- and hope to offer a lot of foil in future collections.
I only took a few custom holiday clients this year, but hope to offer a full line of photo cards next year, as well as some other seasonal paper goods. I’ll keep you updated when 2014 holiday work gets underway in May, (yep- May!)
Happy New Year
Freshly Minted : Holiday 2013 pt. 2
Happy Friday! I’m back to introduce more of my 2013 holiday collection for Minted- specifically my three new Minibook designs. If you’ve never heard of Minibooks, they are these great booklet style cards that provide multiple pages for sharing photos and text. They’re the perfect way to showcase family updates, special moments, and plenty of photos.
Here’s the first of my Minibook designs, Warm + Cozy:
Next up is Snowlace + Kraft:
And finally, Winterberry Frame:
If you follow Duncan Park Papers on Facebook, you may have recall that this design, Winterberry Frame, snagged 4th place in the Minted Holiday Minibook challenge– super exciting stuff!
These Minibook designs and the rest of my holiday cards can be found in the Duncan Park Papers Minted storefront. I’ll be back later today with one more new release for the holiday card collection- stay tuned!
Freshly Minted : Holiday 2013 pt. 3
This next and final introduction is actually a card you’ve already met, but with an exciting new twist: gold foil!
Snow Fancy was one of the lucky designs to be included in Minted’s debut collection of foil pressed holiday cards. Be sure to check out the full assortment, they have to be some of the prettiest cards out there.
That rounds out my 2013 holiday collection for Minted, be sure to check out parts 1 and 2 if you missed them! Happy weekend!
Freshly Minted : Holiday 2013 pt. 1
Orders have already started trickling in, so despite my urge to savor every second of this gorgeous fall weather, I’m going to fast forward a bit– it’s time to introduce my 2013 Minted holiday card collection!
Today I’m featuring my three new holiday photo cards: Merry Bright + Geometric, Simple Snapshots, and Snow Fancy.
First up is Merry Bright + Geometric:
This design is a unique take on a multi-photo card, featuring a fun hexagonal print with a touch of kraft paper.
Next is another multi-photo card, Simple Snapshots:
Simple Snapshots is a great card for making use of a lot of pics from a family photo session, or to show off a variety of exciting events from throughout the year.
Finally, one of my favorites, Snow Fancy:
This one features faux gold glitter details, and a single photo layout– don’t worry though, Minted offers a variety of backers you can choose from to show off additional photos. There are also multiple color options, greetings, and die-cut shapes to choose from to truly customize your card!
These cards and the rest of my Minted holiday cards can be found in the Duncan Park Papers Minted storefront. I’ll be back later this week with more new releases, be sure to check back!
Vintage Lace Letterpress Suite
Wow, how is it already September? I have been hard at work on my wedding invitation collection, and am getting so excited to debut it in the coming months.
The invitation suite I’m introducing today, Vintage Lace, is one that I designed for Kimberly Fitzsimons, Classically Chic Letterpress. I won’t lie, I was absolutely obsessed with the samples when they showed up at my door a few weeks ago– the patterned letterpress backers, the gold foil (!)– these are some luxurious invitations!
Printed in Pool ink and Gold Foil on fluorescent white cotton paper, the design features a delicate lace pattern and classic, elegant type.
Vintage Lace, in addition to my Ringlet suite, is available for purchase through Kimberly Fitzsimons’ shop.
